Chicago

Every so often I like to change painting styles. I've attempted impressionistic painting before and it's fun to switch gears from time to time.

Actually this was a challenge by the Dowagiac Art Guild. ( I am a member.) The challenge was to paint something, anything, in an impressionistic style. It just happens that I was a driver for the college art departments regular trip to the Chicago Art Institute and decided to use my time there painting on site.

Though I live in Michigan now, I was raised in Chicago and will always consider myself a Chicago native. This spot on Lake Michigan was one of my favorite hang outs.

This entire painting was done with a pallet knife. No brushes. Though you can't see it here, the lake water was coated with clear glaze which really makes it look "wet."
